Kindergarten

We offer both morning and afternoon classes for kindergarteners, and we are set up as a traditional 5-day classroom where the homeroom teacher teaches all core subjects. Enrichment activities such as Music, P.E., Spanish, computer, and art are taught by specialists.

Academic Program:

Each day we spend time in phonics, math, writing, social studies at least once a week or more depending on the season, and science where there is a heavier emphasis in the spring.

Spiritual Emphasis:

Bible stories and verses connect God with topics that are learned in the classroom.

Activities:

Kindergartners enjoy many field trips to local businesses, parks, and displays.

Textbooks Used:

Abeka and Bob Jones textbooks along with the Bible are supplemented with worksheets and other materials.

School Day:

The children come in and take care of their own coats and backpack. They sit down to do seat work. All are asked to come to the rug area where we do the pledges, calendar, weather bear, count days, sing the days of the week and read the note on the board. Then it is finger fun and exercise. On to phonics with saying and doing the signal and sound and practicing writing the letter. Computer, library, music and book buddies come next depending on what day of the week it is. Math, science, or social studies, Bible story and recess. After recess is snack and each child has a specific day of the week that they share something they made or brought from home. We sing the "good-bye" song and are dismissed for home.
