Junior High Grading
Grade Calculation Each year is divided into four quarters or two semesters. Quarters are about 9 weeks in length and semesters 18 weeks in length. Grades are given for each course at the end of each quarter. Semester grades are calculated by averaging the previous two quarters.

Grade Reporting
At the end of the first quarter, grades for that quarter are sent home. At the end of each succeeding quarter, the current grade and all previous grades and semester averages are included in that report. At the halfway point of each quarter, a mid-term grades is sent home as a progress report. One third of the way and one sixth of the way through each quarter, progress reports are sent home for each class where the student is earning a “D” or “F”. Progress reports are not included in permanent files and are for the sole purpose of communicating progress to parents.
