High School Activites, Trips, & Positions


Teacher or Office Aide
Description: Each year some students are asked to help as office or teacher aides. A student in this position will be under the supervision of the secretary or a classroom teacher. Students selected as aides will be scheduled into a set period of the day. Grading will be on a pass/fail basis and satisfactory completion of both semesters will earn one credit.

Eligibility and/or Requirements:

  • The student must be requested by the secretary or a classroom teacher.
  • The student must have a 3.00 or better accumulative GPA as of the last completed semester.
  • The student may serve as an aide only once in his/her high school years.

Ministry Coordinator
Description: Each year the principal will ask one student to serve as ministry coordinator for the student body. This student will be responsible for researching ministry opportunities and scheduling activities that allow students to serve in our school and community.

Eligibility and/or Requirements:

  • The student must be a junior or senior.

Student Ministry Team
Description: Students who are led to take an active part in ministry are encouraged to join the Student Ministry Team. These students will be asked to help lead others in the various activities scheduled by the Ministry Coordinator. Participation in certain ministry opportunities may be limited to this worship team.

Eligibility and/or Requirements:

  • Any student who is led to minister to others is welcome to join.

Chi Alpha
Description: Chi Alpha (Christ First) – Students join together for devotion and prayer every Thursday morning at 7:15am. This is an informal time where students can share insights from the Scriptures and share praises and needs for prayer.

Eligibility and/or Requirements:

  • All students are welcome to attend.

Student Council
Description: Student council members generally meet once per week to plan and organize student activities and discuss student issues. Their goal is to promote spiritual growth and school spirit among the students and provide positive social events.

Eligibility and/or Requirements:

  • All full-time students are eligible to apply.
  • Applicants must have no more than 50 demerits by the end of third quarter of the year in which they apply.
  • Applicants must have a 2.75 or better accumulative GPA as of the last completed semester.
  • Three Student Council members are elected from each grade level. Students must maintain a 2.75 GPA during the year.
  • Incoming 9th grade students must meet the above qualifications with the accumulative GPA from the entire 8th grade year considered.

Worship Team
Description: Each year praise and worship for our Monday morning opening and our Wednesday chapel is planned and led by our Student Worship Team. Team members are expected to attend some summer planning and practice sessions and early morning (7:00AM) rehearsals on Mondays and Wednesdays during the school year.

Eligibility and/or Requirements:

  • Students must apply during the third quarter of one year to serve the following year.
  • All full-time students are eligible to apply.
  • Students must have a 2.5 or better accumulative GPA as of the last completed semester and no more than 30 demerits at the time of application.

Fall High School Retreat
Description: Each year Faith Bible High School students are invited to attend a 2-day, 1-night retreat at Winema Christian Camp located about 16 miles north of Lincoln City on the Oregon Coast. This retreat is designed to help students get to know one another and create unity within the body. This Retreat is schedule in mid September.

Eligibility and/or Requirements:

  • All students are encouraged to attend.
  • The school does not require student attendance.
  • Students must provide a parent-signed permission slip and supply the fee required (usually about $45).

Leadership Conference
Description: This conference is designed to inspire and equip students to serve in leadership roles. The 3-day, 2-night event is sponsored by ACSI and is usually scheduled early in November.

Eligibility and/or Requirements:

  • The student must be a member of Student Council or Worship Team, or a leader of Ministry Team or Chi Alpha
  • The student must provide a parent-signed permission slip and supply the fee required (usually about $45).

Athletic Teams
Description: Students are invited to try out for any of our after school sports. Our goal for athletics at FBHS is to provide a positive experience in team play while promoting improvement of skills and development of Christian character.

Eligibility and/or Requirements:

  • Students must pay a fee specific to each sport and furnish a parent-signed permission slip and accompanying forms.
  • Students must have a previous quarter GPA of 2.00 or better and no failing grades to begin the season.
  • Students must maintain this standard at each three-week period report during the season.

Sports Trips
Description: About half of the games played in each sport involves travel to another school. Away game trips often include dinner out at a fast-food place along the way. Student spectators who wish to travel on school provided transportation must meet the following requirements.

Eligibility and/or Requirements:

  • Student spectator involvement may be limited by the space on the school provided transportation.
  • Student spectators must have parent-signed permission slips in order to travel with team.
  • Student spectators may participate as long as they are missing not more than half of their last period class.

High Five Team
Description: Each year FBHS participates in the High Five Academic Challenge. Each week of the school year, two teams from Oregon and Washington high schools compete in an academic match that is taped and aired on a local TV station. In the past five years of participation, FBHS has proved to be very competitive and successful in this event. The team consists of 7 FBHS students.

Eligibility and/or Requirements:

  • All full-time students are eligible to try out for the team.
  • Members will be chosen on the basis of scores from a series of knowledge quizzes given to each student who applies.

Drama Performances
Description: Depending on student interest and school resources, FBHS presents Winter and Spring drama performances. In the past, these plays have been excellent and well attended. The Winter performance is smaller in scale while the Spring presentation is usually an elaborate and highly successful event. Both performances depend on after school practices and are usually self-supporting.

Eligibility and/or Requirements:

  • Students must furnish a parent-signed permission slip.
  • Students must have a previous quarter GPA of 2.00 or better and no failing grades to begin the production.
  • Students must maintain this standard at each three-week period report during the production.

Winter Concert
Description: This evening scheduled in early December features the choir, ensemble, individual and small groups and sign language students. The students perform music they have practiced since the beginning of the year.

Eligibility and/or Requirements:

  • All Choir, Ensemble, and Sign Language students may participate.
  • All students, parents, and guests are welcome.

Graduate Games
Description: The Graduate Games is an annual event scheduled during Christmas vacation each year. For over 10 years alumni have joined students and staff of FBHS to compete in volleyball, soccer, and basketball games. The fellowship and reunion of old friends is always a highlight of the evening.

Eligibility and/or Requirements:

  • All alumni, parents, students, staff and friends are welcome.
  • Only graduates of the school and current students may participate in the games.

Grad Worship Night
Description: Graduates and high school students join together for a night of praise and worship to the Lord. Graduates and high school students join together to form a worship team for the occasion.

Eligibility and/or Requirements:

  • All graduate and high school students are welcome to attend.

Winter Banquet
Description: During the winter of each year the student council plans a formal banquet at one of the nearby hotels or banquet rooms. Dress is formal with a seated or buffet dinner and entertainment planned. Although it is acceptable to come as couples, individuals and groups are common. All students are expected to dress in good taste and modesty for the event.

Eligibility and/or Requirements:

  • All FBHS students and their guests are welcome.
  • Students and their guests need tickets sold by the Student Council.

Spirit Week
Description: Each year, toward the end of February and the Winter sports season, one week is designated as Spirit Week. The first four days of the week are labeled as special dress (such as “Twin Day” or “Time Travel Day”) and Friday is “School Colors Day” with a “Spirit Assembly” scheduled at the end of the day.

Eligibility and/or Requirements:

  • All students are encouraged to participate.
  • Students who do not participate in the dress of the day must be in regular dress code for that day.

Outdoor School Counseling
Description: Each year the sixth grade students from our other campus attend “Outdoor School” at a designated camp facility. Their teachers prefer that our upper grade high school students serve as counselors for these students. Some of our older students volunteer for this ministry. The counselors are needed for 5 weekdays and will miss a considerable amount of class time.

Eligibility and/or Requirements:

  • Students must have a 3.00 or better accumulative GPA as of their last completed semester.
  • Students must be passing all current quarter classes.
  • Students must have no more than 50 demerits at the time of application.
  • Students must have the approval of all seven of their classroom teachers.
  • Students must make up school work missed during the week.

ACSI Musicale
Description: Choir and Ensemble class students may participate in the ACSI Musicale usually scheduled during three days in early March. Students from Washington and Oregon high schools gather to compete in various vocal events. Students travel to the campus of Northwest College in Kent, Washington, for the competition and stay in a local motel.

Eligibility and/or Requirements:

  • Students in Choir and Ensemble are expected to attend.
  • Students must provide a student fee and motel costs and a parent-signed permission slip. Fundraisers often offset some of the cost of the trip.

Field Trips
Description: Classroom teachers often plan and sponsor field trips related to the content covered in their courses. The school provides transportation by bus, light rail or parent drivers.

Eligibility and/or Requirements:

  • Students who have a “D” or “F” grade or a significant amount of missing work may not be allowed to participate.
  • Students must supply any individual costs (meals, entrance fees, etc.) and a parent-signed permission slip.

Washington DC Trip
Description: Every three years a Washington DC trip is scheduled. Students who participate will visit places like The White House, The Pentagon, and The Smithsonian Museums in DC, as well as Arlington, Gettysburg, the Amish Country, and often New York. The next trip is scheduled for seven days in April of 2009.

Eligibility and/or Requirements:

  • All FBHS students are eligible to attend.
  • Students must have parent-signed permission slips and provide the individual cost (usually about $1700).
  • Students are required to make up all missed school work.

Spring Concert
Description: This evening scheduled in early May features the choir, ensemble, individual and small groups and sign language students. The students perform music they’ve practiced since December.

Eligibility and/or Requirements:

  • Choir, Ensemble, and Sign Language Students Participate.
  • All students, parents, and guests are welcome.

Revival Week
Description: Each year during the middle of December and May, Revival Weeks are scheduled. During these weeks Chapels are scheduled daily and speaker(s) from local churches come and challenge our students to grow spiritually.

Eligibility and/or Requirements:

  • All students attend Revival Week meetings and are invited to share and take part in the services.

Spring High School Retreat
Description: Each year Faith Bible High School students are invited to attend a 2-day, 1-night retreat at Winema Christian Camp located about 16 miles north of Lincoln City on the Oregon Coast. This retreat is designed to honor our senior class and finish the year with spiritual emphasis. This Retreat is schedule in mid May.

Eligibility and/or Requirements:

  • All students are encouraged to attend.
  • The school does not require student attendance.
  • Students must provide a parent-signed permission slip and supply the fee required (usually about $50).

Senior Dinner
Description: Each year on the Tuesday following Memorial Day, Seniors, their parents, and other relatives are invited to come and honor our graduates. Parents are invited to share memories of their kids and bring a few pictures to share. This dinner is a pot-luck with the school providing drinks, and place settings.

Elgibilility and/or Requirements:

  • All full-time Seniors and their parents and guests are welcome to attend.

Senior Wills
Descriptions: This assembly, held during the last week before Senior Commencement, allows Seniors to “will” their classmates lockers, flowers, characteristics, etc. This tradition has been popular with our departing Seniors as it is the last time they have to communicate directly with their fellow students and teachers.

Eligibility and/or Requirements:

  • All full-time seniors are welcome to participate in Senior Wills.
  • Parents are welcome to attend.

Senior Graduation
Description: Each year FBHS honors our Senior Class with a commencement ceremony held at a local church or other facility. The event includes praise and worship, special music, salutatorian and valedictorian messages, and sharing by Seniors.

Eligibility and/or Requirements:

  • All full-time Seniors who meet FBHS graduation requirements are invited to participate.
  • All parents, relatives, and friends are welcome.

National Honor Society
Description: The purpose of the Falcon Chapter of National Honor Society is to honor those students who have shown excellence in academics, service, and character. Members seek to serve their fellow students by participating in various service projects.

  • Members must be full-time Junior or Senior High students.
  • Members must show evidence of positive character.
  • Members must show evidence of leadership in their church, school, or community.
  • Members must show evidence of past participation in service to their church, school, or community.
