Physical Science

Physical Science is a survey course giving an overview of Meteorology, Oceanography, Chemistry, Geology and Physics. In addition, scientific notation, the metric system and temperature measurement and conversion is taught. The purpose of the course is not to go in depth in any one subject, but to give students an overview of all of these disciplines of science. The course uses a variety of teaching methods, including lecture, cooperative learning, and individual research. Demonstration labs are used to add interest and provide “hands on” learning opportunities. The course will be taught from the Christian perspective that all matter is created by God, but will not be a religion or theology class. This is a science course rooted and grounded in the discipline of scientific method. Students will be taught to examine evolutionary claims and concepts in the light of scientific inquiry and determine for themselves the scientific merit of such claims and concepts.
