Third Grade

We are set up as a traditional classroom where the homeroom teacher teaches all core subjects. Enrichment activities such as Music, P.E., Spanish, computer, and art are taught by specialists.

Academic Program:

We spend time each day studying Math, Language, Spelling, Handwriting, Science, History, and Bible. In addition, our class has Physical Education twice a week and weekly instruction in Spanish, Keyboarding, Art, and Music. We go to the Faith Bible Media Center each week to learn about library skills and check out books to read.

Spiritual Emphasis:

We have specific Bible lessons throughout our weeks, but our love for the Lord provides the framework for every subject we learn. We begin our week by joining with other classes in Morning Worship where we sing praise to the Lord and share our memory verses. Our Chapels are on Wednesdays with special speakers, worship, and prayer time. We are involved in several service opportunities each year, including filling Shoeboxes for needy children, visiting a Nursing Home, and others. We love God and it shows!

Activities:

We get to bowl, skate, or swim with first through third grade once during each quarter. Our third grade field trips include a visit to the zoo, a trip to see a play at the Oregon Children’s Theater, and other curriculum-related excursions. We top off our ocean unit with a day in Newport visiting the Mark Hatfield Marine Science Center and tide pooling at Yaquina Head.
